Saina Nehwal as a first Indian to win Silver in World Badminton Championship

Saina Nehwal an Olympic Bronze medalist to become the first Indian to win Silver in World Badminton Championship. It was the second successive loss for Saina in major finals, even though she settled with a Silver medal which remain best ever performance by Indian showpiece.




Match Highlights:

It was the tough match between Saina and Lindaweni in Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. Lindaweni opened the game with a 6-2 Lead and stuck at 7-6 when feeling pain in Right Knee.

However Saina grabbed the score and maintained the level up to 10-10. The Indonesian seemed to be restricted by the Indian Champ and after the long time raised the score to 11-10.

And there is the time for the Interval. After the long rails the scores were 15-12 and its time for the Indian Champion to show off her skills. Saina managed to draw the score to 15-15 with Lindaweni.

But the Indonesian shot the score lead to 18-16 by giving Saina a break. The pain in the Right knee dragged the Indonesian which gave Sania a victorious Lead 19-16.





After the breather, Saina started the game with a lead of 14-11. But the Indian how ever committed some errors which gave Lindaweni 14-14 draw. This time the ferocious home player Lindaweni raised the score to 17-18. 

The wide shot played by Lindaweni gave Sania a Tremedous victory. 

Unfortunately Saina could play Olympics due to Knee Injury and PV Sindhu took command over her position and earned a Silver Medal as a Debutant. Meanwhile Saina is still recovering from her Knee Injury and she is ruled out for the next World Badminton championship too. It would be interesting to see if PV Sindhu replicates Saina in World Badminton Championship.
