How to Find Plastic Rice in 2 Minutes - Simple Homemade tricks to find Fake Rice

In India, rice is the staple food of more than half of the country’s population. But a recent controversy surrounding the rice has left many scared. There were rumours of plastic rice being sold in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and people can’t stop wondering if it’s true. Even though the government has called the news “fake”, a few food departments have sent the samples of rice for testing.

Here’s how it all started. Two days ago, a customer complained of plastic rice being used at a biryani point in Saroornagar in Hyderabad. Soon after, another customer from Meerpet approached the police with a similar complaint. He also reportedly said that “when he rolled the rice he was eating into balls, it bounced off like it was made of rubber.”

How to Find Plastic Rice in less than 2 Minutes:

Here are the Five proven method to find out whether the rice you are eating is actually Plastic. As, i mentioned Earlier every test takes less than 2 minutes. You can use any one of the Test to find the Fake Rice..

#1. Hot Oil Test to Find Plastic Rice

This is one of the method to find Plastic Rice as you can easily findout by the colour and Smell of the rice. Take a spoon of Rice and put in a Pan with 1 spoon of Oil and Heat it at 220 degrees for 5 minutes. 

If it is plastic Rice then plastic will melt down and the rice will turn to Blackish colour indicating plastic and you can find the deep smell of Plastic while heating.

#2. Fungus Test to Find Plastic Rice

This is Oldest and the Best Technique used by many of the Indian mothers before feeding food to their children. Just like old days, boil the rice and keep it in a jar and close it tightly for a day. 

If you dont find any smell or waterish content in Rice then it's Plastic. No Fungus forms on Plastic. Hence proved.

Note: This method takes 1 day to determine whether the Fungus is formed or not. So you can note this as optional Method

#3. Floating Test to find Plastic Rice

Obviously this is another good method to find the Plastic rice or Fake rice. It takes less than 1 minutes to find it and you can use this method in the Shops before buying the Rice.

Take a glass of water and add two spoons of Rice and gently stir the water with spoon. If it is a Real rice then it will drown and if it is floating, you know what it means and i think you just know what to do.

#4. Burning Test to find Plastic Rice

Another Quick way to find the Plastic Rice at the Shops before purchasing the Rice. Take a spoon of Rice and burn it using the Match stick or Lighter. If you feel any Plastic Smell coming out of the Rice. It indicates that the Rice is Fake.

Plastic rice is generally made of completely plastic and you can feel the smell within seconds of your start. Carry a matchbox before going to Rice merchants. 😜😜

#5. Boiling Test to find Plastic Rice

This test cannot be performed in the shops as you need to boil the rice atleast for 2 minutes. Take some rice and boil it for 2 minutes. I agree, the rice wont be cooked within 2 minutes but remember its the test for Plastic and not for Rice. 

If you boil the plastic for 2 minutes, you know what happens. It melts. You can find a thick layer of plastic on the Rice Cooker after 2 minutes.
